Lynda Goff

Community Program Manager

 

Lynda joined the Knight Center of Digital Excellence in September 2008 as a community program manager. She brings more than 25 years of experience in information technology, including six years as executive director of WinstonNet, a nonprofit community technology organization in Winston-Salem, N.C. There Lynda oversaw the development and implementation of several high-impact digital inclusion projects, including computer centers, training, a community portal as well as several local and regional education initiatives.  She was also a member of the Wireless Winston executive team focused on a city/county-wide wireless broadband project.  Based a collaborative effort between WinstonNet and the local community, the Intelligent Community Forum, an international think tank focused on economic growth in the broadband economy, named Winston-Salem a Top Seven Intelligent Community in May 2008.  Lynda has also had speaking engagements across the country related to community digital inclusion projects and education. 

In addition to her work at WinstonNet, Lynda spent 17 years at Wake Forest University in various IT-related roles. She established and led a Project Management Office within the Information Systems department implementing industry (PMI) best practices.  She also served as the director of IT support services and helped lead the innovative project for the Class of 2000 which provided all students, faculty and staff with laptop computers.   Lynda has served as a consultant to several higher educational institutions in the US and abroad to assist them developing technology support structures for their campus computing initiatives.   Lynda began her career as a systems analyst for Pacific Telesys, and she studied at Salem College and California State University at Fullerton.
