Digital Opportunity Challenge Fund for Knight Communities
Critical to developing sustainable universal access programs is a comprehensive funding strategy that attracts support from a variety of sources and allows for maximum return on investment. To catalyze early interest and encourage local investment in innovative and collaborative connected community projects, the Knight Foundation has created a $10 million Digital Opportunity Challenge (DOC) Fund. We encourage Knight Communities that demonstrate a commitment to pursuing a connected community strategy to apply for challenge grants to facilitate the initial planning process or to help retain existing stakeholder support. Knight Program Directors and Community Councils will assist in the disbursement of grants.
The Knight Center believes nothing big happens without a big idea, nothing new without a new idea. In every project we fund, the idea comes first. Here are five basics components we are looking for in your idea:
- Discovery of the facts.
- The vision to see what's possible.
- The courage to push for change.
- The know-how to get it done.
- The tenacity that gets results.
More information, including application materials and deadlines, will be available soon. Check this space for future updates or contact your Community Program Director for assistance with applying for funding.
